This concert will take place in the cathedral’s chancel, around the « Collon »-organ. The programme features mainly concertos for strings (Vivaldi) and organ (Bach and Handel), the latter in duet.Paulina Sokolowska will be the director of  the new Brussels Strings ensemble.

First performance of the « Messe solennelle » by Xavier Deprez             

Presiding : Father Xavier Dijon SJ.  In the presence of numerous artists and performers.

 The «Messe des artistes » is a 40 year old tradition of the Brussels Cathedral, an event that is unique in Europe, initiated and continued by the successive « chaplains of the artists » at the cathedral.

This year it is taking place on Sunday 3 February at 12h30. Xavier Deprez has, for this occasion, composed a « Missa Solemnis » for choir, assembly and organ. It will be performed in première by the Swara choir dir. Ivan Yohann and by the composer at the organ.

After the Artists’ Mass, at 3 :30pm, a solo organ concert will be offered, by the talented young Russian virtuoso Veronika lLobareva, born in Kazan, Russia, in 1985. She is the winner of an impressive number of organ contests in Russia and Poland. Viktoria followed masterclasses with the most prestigious organists and now teaches at the Kazan music school. She also conducts a recital career in Europe.
