Theatrical play “Sœur Emmanuelle, le ciel au cœur des poubelles”
A play by the burlesque religious theatre company CatéCado (Luc Aerens, deacon-actor) : “Soeur Emmanuelle, le ciel au cœur des poubelles.”
The Compagnie de Théâtre Religieux Burlesque presents a 75-minute show recounting the life and work of Sister Emmanuelle, also known as ‘The Ragpicker of Cairo’. The 18 actors and actresses who appear on stage bring to life many key moments in the life and encounters of this committed and unusual nun. With humour, an offbeat perspective and a few extravagant touches (the three components of burlesque), the artists allow the audience to follow Sister Emmanuelle from the slums to the Vatican, from her encounters with people who can help her improve the lives of her protégés to her interactions with journalists fighting to capture her astonishing words. A refreshing dose of humanism and gospel.
