Free visits
We are happy to welcome you to this place of prayer and culture.
The Cathedral is open to visitors:
- on weekdays, Monday to Friday from 8 am to 6 pm
- on Saturday from 8 am to 5 pm
- on Sunday from 1 pm to 6 pm.
Visits are not allowed during the services.
The Cathedral is accessible to people with reduced mobility. The entrance is through the shop door located on Place Sainte-Gudule (the shop door is on the right side when facing the Cathedral). Just ring the bell for someone to open the door for you.
Entrance to the Cathedral is free, but there is an admission charge in some areas.
The Treasury
- 3 EUR per person
- 30 EUR for groups of 10 to 30 people
- 15 EUR per school class
- Free entry for children under 12
Opening hours: the treasury is accessible during the Cathedral’s opening hours, subject to the presence of volunteers to welcome you.

The Romanesque remains
Discover the Romanesque remains: remarkably well-preserved remnants of the front part of the old Romanesque church.
Entrance fee: 2 EUR per person (to be paid on-site, in cash)
Opening hours: the remains are accessible during the Cathedral’s opening hours.

The Crypt
Discover the Crypt: located under the choir of the Cathedral, this 11th-century Romanesque crypt, built on the plan of a small church, was probably intended to house the relics of Saint Gudula. On its walls, you can admire drawings as well as names and inscriptions in Latin.
Entrance fee: 4 EUR per person (to be paid in cash at the Treasury counter)
Opening hours: the crypt is accessible only by appointment.

Guided tours :
A team of volunteer guides welcomes you and offers free tours of the Cathedral.
There are different types of tours.

Tour without registration
We offer guided tours in French and English every Saturday at 2 pm. The tour lasts about an hour and starts at the entrance of the Cathedral (meeting point).
In case of a wedding or funeral, the tour will be cancelled. To confirm the tour, please contact Church and Tourism Brussels on

Guided tour on request
- Minimum 1-hour tour : discovery of the Cathedral.
- 1 to 2-hour tour: in-depth exploration of the Cathedral, the treasury, the Romanesque remains, and the crypt.

Tour of the towers
During this tour, you will discover the construction and renovation techniques of the Cathedral in the context of its historical evolution, while enjoying a unique panorama of Brussels.
The Cathedral towers are open for visits from March to October. The tour lasts about 2.5 hours and requires good physical condition due to the effort required. Children must be at least 7 years old and accompanied by an adult.
Tours are organized for groups of 10 to 24 people. Tours in French take place on Saturday mornings at 10 am. On request, it is also possible to visit the towers in Dutch or English, on weekends or weekdays.

The tour price is 15 EUR per person.


Visits with QR codes:
During the Cathedral’s opening hours, you can explore the building using your smartphone by scanning one of the 16 QR codes.
Each code will give you access to captivating stories, anecdotes, historical elements, and photos revealing often unknown details (such as stained glass windows).
The tour is offered in two formats –
- lasting 30 or 45 minutes –
- and in 4 languages (French, Dutch, English, and Spanish).
So, remember to bring your smartphone and headphones!
The fee is :
- 5 EUR for the 30-minute tour
- and 6 EUR for the 45-minute tour.
A payment terminal is available at the entrance of the Cathedral.

THE CATHEDRAL SHOP
You will find a wide selection of religious items: holy water fonts, jewellery (chains, bracelets, crosses, medals), rosaries, decade rosaries, wall crosses, magnets, keychains, small angels, candles, incense, nativity scenes, statues and statuettes, some books…
As well as souvenirs of the cathedral, CDs, postcards, maps, and souvenirs of Brussels.

- Every day from 10 am to 5:30 pm
- Sunday from 1 pm to 5:30 pm.
Internal regulations
- You are in a place of worship. It is expressly requested to observe calm and silence, to adopt a respectful attitude and to wear appropriate and decent clothing.
- During services, visits are not allowed.
- Food and drinks must be consumed outside the Cathedral.
- Animals are not allowed, except for guide dogs accompanying visually impaired people.
- Begging is not allowed in the Cathedral. Any illicit selling, solicitation or petition signing is prohibited.
- The church staff are present to welcome you and ensure everyone’s safety, but also to maintain the tranquillity of the place. Any observed or proven disturbance and any aggressive behaviour, will result in eviction from the Cathedral.
