SUMMARY:9/05/2026 – 15:00 – Lecture by Xavier Deprez and Bart Jacobs – ‘The organs of the Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula’
DESCRIPTION:Saturday 09/05/2026 (bilingual Fr/Nl) \nSpeakers: Messrs Xavier Deprez and Bart Jacobs, organists at the cathedral.\nTitle: ‘The organs of the Cathedral of Saints Michael and Gudula’\nSuspended 13 metres above the floor, the cathedral’s grand organ is as spectacular to behold as it is to hear. Designed in 2000 by German master organ builder Gerhard Grenzing, it combines tradition and modernity in a unique swallow’s nest design. Its sound, which is deep, rich and powerful, enhances both classical and contemporary repertoire. A true technical feat weighing 30 tonnes, concealed within an elegant wooden case, this exceptional instrument fills the cathedral and its visitors with emotion like nowhere else. \n\nFree admission\n
